Salary: $22.02 - $31.53 per hour (DOQ)  Work Period: 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:       Education and Experience:  High school diploma or equivalent. One to two years of technical or vocational school training in commercial/industrial heating and air (HVAC) practices or equivalent. Two years of commercial/industrial heating and air experience at a journeyman level. Boiler, chiller, high efficiency HVAC, mini splitter systems, and their associated controls including variable speed drives highly is desirable.  Licenses and Certifications:  Must possess a valid Oklahoma Driver’s License and a satisfactory motor vehicle record and a State of Oklahoma journeyman or contractors heating and air (HVAC) license.  Knowledge:  Tools, equipment, and materials used in the heating and air trade for installation, repair, and maintenance.  Blueprints, specifications, and plans.  The ability to locate, price and procure parts for repair/replacement of heating and air equipment. Occupational hazards and safety rules and regulations related to heating and air trade.  Skills:  Heating and air installation, maintenance, and repair at an industrial/commercial level. Operation of standard equipment used in heating and air work to determine and repair malfunctions. Reading schematics, blue prints, specifications, and plans associated with heating and air construction and installation. Performing basic mathematical calculations associated with the heating and air trade.  Interpersonal skills necessary to be courteous to fellow employees and citizens while performing assigned tasks and duties. The ability to get along with and assist fellow employees is of great importance.  Mental and Physical Abilities: Analytical ability to diagnose heating and air equipment malfunctions and determine necessary repairs. Ability to lift and carry moderately heavy (20-50 lb.) supplies, materials, and equipment frequently. Ability to lift and carry heavy (50-75 lb.) supplies, materials and equipment occasionally. Work requires continued walking, stooping, standing, and climbing.  Ability to maintain regular, predictable and punctual attendance.  Additional information:  Selected applicant must pass background investigation, physical examination, drug screen.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  Essential Functions:  Inspects HVAC installations on a commercial/industrial scale to determine malfunctions, hazards, and need for adjustments.  Replaces and or repairs HVAC equipment.  Installs new HVAC equipment.  Observes safety standards, specifications and mechanical codes.  Inspects equipment for safety hazards before use or before repair or maintenance is performed.  Performs preventative maintenance on equipment as needed to insure reliability and function of equipment.  Uses hand tools and other equipment associated with HVAC work on a commercial/industrial level including test, charging, and recovery equipment for installation.  Keeps work area clean and safe.  Works in a manner safe to the individual and other people, follows safety rules, and safe work practices. Uses safety equipment as required. Performs other related maintenance duties as required based on division work load.WORKING CONDITIONS:  Frequent exposure of up to 80% of work time to dirt, dust, extremes of temperature, noise, and noxious fumes and odors.  Exposure to hazardous situations which involve heavy machinery, hazardous chemicals, or power tools, and the possibility of electrical shock.  On call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for emergencies.
