Description
Under general direction of the Parks Operation Manager, the Parks Operations Supervisor supervises and participates in the daily operation and maintenance of assigned park district and provides assistance in developing and scheduling related park functions and activities.

 

 Principal Duties:
  1. Hire, train, supervise, evaluate, counsel, discipline, and terminate full-time and seasonal employees.  Work with employees in the daily maintenance of assigned City areas and in maintenance repairs and in-house construction on park sites (i.e. plumbing, electrical, irrigation, turf management, etc.).
  2. Organize, plan, and follow through with projects with known checkpoints and develop contingency plans in work activities for crisis situations.
  3. Enforce policies and procedures of the Department and City and assist in the revision of divisional policy, job descriptions and evaluations manuals.
  4. Assist in the preparation of the divisional budget and manage a district budget.
  5. Responsible for routine inspections and repairs of facilities, vehicles, equipment, playgrounds, and lighting within the park district and maintain records of the inspection and repairs.
  6. Responsible for purchases, collect bids, and write specifications for division equipment and vehicles.
  7. Assist with organizing and preparing for special events and recreational programs.
  8. Handle citizen concerns about complaints, rule violations, and on-going programs.
  9. Serve as City liaison for Youth Soccer, Little League, Girl's Softball, and other facility user groups.
  10. Perform other related duties as assigned.

 

 Qualifications:
Required:  

High School Diploma or G.E.D., and two (2) years college-level training or technical training certification in a field related to area of assignment, and five (5) years experience related to area of assignment including one (1) year supervisory experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.  Possess a Certified Playground Safety Certification (CPSI) or the ability to obtain within (12) month of employment. Possess or the ability to obtain a Non-commercial Applicator License issued by the Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) or the Structural Pest Control Board within (12) months.  Valid Texas Driver's License. Excellent written and oral communication. Knowledge and experience in general plumbing, irrigation, electrical repairs, welding, construction, turf management, and landscaping. Available for on-call and emergency response. Available to work weekends, evenings, and holidays.

Preferred:  

Special event logistics experience. Sport field turf maintenance experience. Forestry and horticulture experience.
