Under general direction of the Director of Development Services, performs urban planning administrative work and research in the Development Services Department. The Assistant Planner is a staff specialist providing support in the following areas: general planning practices, subdivision regulation, sign regulation, land use, zoning, ordinance amendments, variances, and staff reports. Also performs reviews of plats, surveys, and site plans. The Assistant Planner utilizes ArcGIS and other standard software in the application of planning practices and procedures. He or she assists property owners, developers, engineers, real estate agents, etc., by providing information on local development regulations and processes, and development projects and proposals.
