Description

Under the supervision of the Assistant City Manager of Development & Municipal Service, the Director of Municipal Utilities performs administrative and supervisory duties and is responsible the planning, directing, and coordinating of operations for the City’s water and wastewater infrastructure. Oversees and coordinates the City’s Water Loss Mitigation Initiative. Supervises staff; plans, prioritizes and assigns tasks and projects; monitors work; develops staff skills and evaluates performance; provides technical guidance, assistance and training; meets regularly with staff to discuss and resolve workload and technical issues; develops work plans and assures required deadlines are met; reviews and verifies the accuracy and efficiency of work activities. Oversees efforts to reduce inflow and infiltration into the City’s sanitary sewer system. Reviews construction plans; oversees project management activities. Ensures compliance of program operations with City, TCEQ, and state requirements. Manages purchasing, bidding, and contract operations. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration, Business, Environmental Management or a closely related field; AND ten years’ experience in municipal utility operations, including five years of management or supervisory experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
