Description | Overview The Assistant Director of Construction Inspection is responsible for the supervision of Construction Supervisors and Inspection Teams tasked with the delivery of construction projects and recurring Capital Improvement Projects (CIP) and Capital Operating Projects in accordance with established technical standards, policies, procedures and state and local regulatory requirements. This position performs complex engineering construction functions including supervision, facilitation and implementation of construction projects, coordination with contractors and consultant forces to deliver assigned projects within established budget, schedule and quality requirements. Strives to achieve delivery efficiencies through effective work. Supervises direct reports to assist with pre-construction activities including constructability reviews, scope assessment, construction budgets and schedules. Directly responsible for meeting project schedules and budgets; ensures construction meets requirements of project documents and specification; maintains updated project documents, daily logs, as built drawings, etc.; ensuring a quality product is delivered to the City. Conducts contractor meetings and coordinates work as required. Establishes operating responsibilities among construction program staff and consultants for optimal workflow and problem resolution. The Assistant Director will be also be responsible for negotiating any claims and change order requests and providing adequate documentation to management to support filed decisions related to change orders and claims. A valid driver's license is required. Successful out of state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire. |
