Description | Lift Station Maintenance (Official Job Title: Skilled Trades Worker II) (2 Positions): Responsible for the installation, maintenance, trouble shooting, and repair of all electrical and mechanical equipment and appurtenances at all Public Utilities facilities. Must be fully proficient in the duties of a Skilled Trades Worker I and demonstrate the ability to construct and repair electrical panels, fabricate mechanical repairs, and have a basic knowledge of instrumentation, telemetry, communications systems and computers. Subject to Passing Substance Screening: This position is subject to passing a pre-employment substance screening. An applicant who fails to pass a required drug screening test shall be disqualified from employment in any class for a period of five years.
Minimum Qualifications: A High School Diploma or its equivalent and three (3) years of experience in performing pump, valve or hydraulic system repair and maintenance which includes work in the water/wastewater collection field. A valid Driver’s License is required. Must obtain a Class “A” Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) within six (6) months from date of hire. Preferred Qualifications: Valid Class "C" wastewater collection system certification. Ability to obtain a Class "B" wastewater collection system certification within two (2) years. Possession of a valid Florida Class "A" Commercial Driver’s License with air brake endorsement. Safety training in Hazcom, Confined Spaces, Hearing Protection, Bloodborne Pathogens, Workplace Violence, Lockout/Tagout, Fire Extinguishers, Personal Protection Equipment, Fall Protection. Job Based Competencies:
Work Schedule: 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. This position is subject to on-call duties that include working overtime, evening, nights, weekends and holidays. Work schedules may vary due to split shifts, rotations, on-call, emergencies, etc. Physical Demands: Must occasionally lift pumps/motors that are up to 50 pounds. A dolly/cart is available. This position regularly works outdoors with dangerous equipment and risk of electrical shock and exposure to blood-borne pathogens. The incumbent will wear protective clothing.
