Larimer Humane Society, located in Northern Colorado, is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Director of Animal Protection and Control (APC).  Please include availability and salary requirements in cover letter.  Reporting to the CEO of the non-profit organization, the Director is responsible for providing strategic direction, overall management and tactical animal control leadership for Larimer Humane Society located in Northern Colorado.  The incumbent directs the enforcement of county and municipality ordinances and state statutes relating to animal welfare and public safety.  Develops and implements policies, programs and services related to Animal Control for contractual jurisdictions and ensures Organizational compliance.  Develops programs and activities to promote responsible pet ownership consistent with the values and mission of Larimer Humane Society.  Manages a team of approximately twelve (12) Animal Control and Dispatch officers.  Serves as a field officer on occasion, as needed.  Requirements include a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent applicable experience, a minimum of three (3) years supervisory experience and four (4) years of field Animal Protection and Control, Code Enforcement or Law Enforcement experience.  Proven customer service skills are required, as are solid verbal and written communication and computer skills.  Public speaking experience is required and spokesperson experience is desired.  Humane Officer State Certification and court testimony experience is desired and certifications including CAACO, NACA, NACHO and CAWA are a plus.  Contract negotiation and government liaison experience is a plus as is animal shelter and Chameleon software experience.   Bilingual, written and spoken, in English and Spanish is a plus.  Proven emotional intelligence, work ethics and integrity skills.  Relocation assistance may be available.  Expected hiring range starts in the $60k’s and may be negotiable commensurate with experience.  Closes when filled.
