Description | Development Services Manager Summary: Responsible for the coordination of activities and oversight of the divisions assigned to the Development Services including Building Inspections and Storm Water Division. Plans, directs, manages and oversees all activities and operations of the Development Services Department including long-range and current planning, economic development, permitting and building inspection. Coordinate with the Public Works Department, Fire Marshall and Planning Departments for civil site plan review and inspection support. Responsible for direct contact with citizens, contractors, developers and elected officials for a variety of issues. Provides advice and counsel to the City Manager's office and implements directives, as assigned; works with other departments on matters of mutual concern and to accomplish department objectives; communicates City policies in persuasive, informative and diplomatic manner. Directs the resolution of problems; responds to complex development inquiries, complaints or concerns regarding development service issues. Establishes customer service programs to assure that citizens achieve their objectives in the most timely and efficient manner. Provides frequent presentations before applicants, community groups, boards and the City Council utilizing excellent communication skills and the ability to present technical information in such situations. Minimum Qualifications: Education, Training and Experience Guidelines: A Bachelor of Arts in construction science, construction administration, engineering, urban/regional planning, public administration or related field is required. Masters degree is preferred. Five years of management responsibility of personnel, projects and services is required. License and certification requirements: A valid Texas State Driver's License is required. Must have or be able to obtain certifications in the appropriate areas of responsibility. Physical demands and working environment: Ability to sit, stand and transport self from building to building. Ability to drive a vehicle to and from various work sites.
