Working closely with the City Engineer, this person will have the chance at hands-on professional growth as they are exposed to stormwater management, capital project planning, project management, and environmental management. Salary: $2,593.59 bi-weekly (26 pay periods)

Under general direction of the Public Works Director or designee, the incumbent is responsible for: the review of development and redevelopment submissions for compliance with City and professional development standards; reviewing proposed civil plans and providing necessary guidance to align development proposals with approved development plans, standard construction practices, required City standards, capital projects and other development plans. This position involves working with the City Engineer in stormwater management, capital project planning, project management, and environmental management.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  1. Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from an accredited university.  EIT certificate required.
  2. One to four (4) years’ experience preferred.
  3. Valid Texas Driver’s License and a safe driving record.
  4. Proficiency in computer operations and software applications, including AutoCAD and GIS Systems.
  5. Knowledge of the principles and practices of civil engineering, particularly with the design, construction, and maintenance of public works projects, including streets, water, sanitary sewer and drainage design and construction required. Experience with Pavement Management Systems preferred.
  6. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents. 
  7. Ability to respond professionally and effectively to sensitive inquiries or complaints.  Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  8. Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to write speeches and articles using original or innovative techniques or style.
