Description | Part-time Fitness Instructor Summary: Fitness Instructor reports to the Fitness Coordinator and the Director of Risk Management. This position requires knowledge of fitness programs, fitness equipment, and other programs designed to enhance fitness and well-being. The Fitness Instructor is responsible to deliver safe and effective opportunities for physical fitness development by teaching fitness classes to members of the City of Odessa Fitness Center. Classes may include, but are not limited to, Muscle Cut, Yogalates, Pilates, Cardio, Zumba, Spin, Functional Fitness, Self-Defense & Mixed Martial Arts. The Fitness Instructor must be people-oriented, focused, encouraging, enthusiastic, and fun. Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following: Principal Duties/Responsibilities
Education: High School Diploma or G.E.D preferred. Experience: Experience in supervising and leading participants in a fitness program. Familiarity with fitness equipment and fitness programs. Licenses and Certifications: Valid Texas Driver License. Required certifications or previous experience related to field of expertise. American Red Cross or equivalent First/Aid CPR certification within 30 days of employment. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of fitness equipment and ability to demonstrate proper usage to clients. Ability to teach fitness classes, monitor participants, conducts safe and effective fitness, corrects unsafe techniques of members and enforces Fitness Center rules. Ability to deal effectively with the Fitness Center members at all levels of the City organization. Ability to interact successfully with the Fitness Coordinator and others to achieve fitness center goals. Note to Applicant: This position is for a lunch hour (12 -1) Spin Class that is held on Tuesdays & Thursdays. This position may also fill in as a sub when needed for other classes As part of the interview process, a demo class would be required.
