Description

Purpose of Classification

The purpose of this classification is to order and issue City vehicle parts, order and issue all City uniforms, pick-up, barcode, track, and dispose of all City record storage, and maintain Warehouse.

Essential Functions

The following duties and functions, as outlined herein, are intended to be representative of the type of tasks performed within this classification.  They are not listed in any order of importance.  The omission of specific statements of the duties or functions does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification.  Other duties may be required and assigned.
 
Greets customers, processes vehicle and equipment part orders, , orders PM parts
 
 Interacts with Senior and Fleet Mechanics to determine priorities with part deliveries.
 
Interact with the Fleet, contracted vendors and purchasing to process outside parts orders, follow up on parts ordered,
 
Orders parts and follows up on parts ordered
 
Conducts maintenance of the Warehouse. Conducts weekly inventories of Warehouse.  Pulls Warehouse orders.
 
Schedules the mounting of tires and servicing.
 
Maintain vehicle counter sheets for mechanics orders.
 
Orders and issues all of city uniforms.  Keeps track of all city uniforms through excel.
 
Enters vehicle invoices for payment and processes Warehouse issues.
 
Communicates with outside vendors with new items, backorders, and delivery problems.
 
Communicates with outside vendors with new items, backorders, and delivery problems.
 
Receives merchandise.  Checks in special orders.  Unloads trucks.
 
 
 
Sets pickups, labels, tracks, inventories and disposes of all City record storage.
 
Trains and researches new vehicle parts related to the fleet industry.
 
Operates telephone.
 
Provides customer service to City departments.
 
Orders tires and maintains tire room.
 
Checks and maintains inventory for bulk hydraulic and motor oil
 
Scans all fleet orders and invoices into Laserfiche
 
Maintains a clean and organized warehouse

Performs other related duties as required.

Accurately and expeditiously receives and delivers messages and information to the appropriate individuals.
 
Ability to prepare accurate and thorough written records and reports.
 
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions and to complete assigned tasks with minimal supervisory direction.
 
Ability to understand and quickly and accurately follow brief oral and written instructions on moderately complex matters.
 
Ability to effectively communicate with co-workers, management and the general public.
 
 
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs)
 
Considerable knowledge of warehousing methods in diversified commodities.
 
Considerable knowledge of the City's inventory system.
 
Considerable knowledge of a wide range of commodities frequently used by the City.
 
Considerable knowledge in using Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.
 
Considerable knowledge in the City's purchasing guidelines.
 
Considerable knowledge in maintaining record storage.
 
Considerable knowledge in establishing invoice payments and obtaining credits.
 
Considerable knowledge in Fleet vehicle and parts.
 
Skill in operation of a desktop computer.
 
Skill in operating a forklift and other warehouse equipment.
 
Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with the City's staff and vendors.
 
Ability to prepare correspondence and reports.

Minimum Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
 
High School Diploma or equivalent.  A minimum of one (1) year of experience involving the ordering of fleet parts or working in an automotive fleet shop.   Must possess and maintain a valid Florida driver's license.    
 
 
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
 
Certification to operate a forklift.
 
ASE Service Advisor Certification.

PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS / ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS
 
Physical Ability:  Tasks require the ability to exert physical effort which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of heavy weight (60 pounds). Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or work station.
 
Sensory Requirements:  Tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate sounds, and visual cues or signals. Tasks require the ability to communicate orally.
 
Environmental Factors: Essential functions are regularly performed without exposure to adverse environmental conditions.
