Description

Under limited supervision, manages the water, sewer and public safety activities of the Engineering Division.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Plans, organizes, staffs, and directs the daily water, sewer and public safety project activities of the division.
  • Reviews plans and specifications for compliance with Local, State and Federal codes.
  • Supervises, evaluates, and disciplines division personnel.
  • Assists in preparing and monitoring the annual division budget.
  • Prepares reports, writes memoranda and correspondence.
  • Develops short-term and long-range strategies for public improvements.
  • Schedules and estimates costs and budgets for capital improvement projects.
  • Certifies bid tabulations on Engineering and Construction projects.
  • Manages the design, bidding, and awarding of contracts for capital improvement projects.
  • Performs in-house design and provides assistance to staff with design issues.
  • Coordinates design effort with other City Departments for project completion.
  • Manages outside design professionals designing City projects.
  • Oversees the preparation of rights-of-way documents.
  • Assists during the construction phase of infrastructure projects; answers questions, attends progress meetings, make site visits.
  • Prepares and submits required federal, state, and local permits for capital improvement projects.
  • Oversees the preparation and review of legal descriptions.
  • Serves on the Operation Committee for the Regional Metropolitan Utility Authority (RMUA).
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education and Experience:

Requires a Bachelor's Degree in a course of study related to the occupational field, supplemented by three to five years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid Driver's License issued by the State of Oklahoma for the type of vehicle or equipment operated. Registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of Oklahoma.
