Description | Property Evidence Tech. Summary: Under general supervision, the property/evidence technician will perform a variety of duties involved in the care, custody, control, and disposal of all evidence, property, and/or contraband that comes under the custodial control of the police department. Will maintain both written and computer documentation of all property transactions and will maintain the proper chain of custody for all court proceedings as needed. Essential duties and responsibilities may include but are not limited to, the following: Principal Duties/Responsibilities:
Minimum Qualifications:Education: High school diploma or G.E.D. certification. Experience: 1-3 years experience in property/evidence field, or related fields Certification: Valid Texas Driver License Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Ability to read, write, understand and follow oral and written instructions. Must be able to work with a personal computer and maintain a filing system. Ability to coordinate various requests and maintenance of various standard report forms. Possess and maintain a good working knowledge of Texas Criminal Code of Procedure regarding the lawful storage and disposal of property and evidence. Communicate in a clear and concise manner, both written and verbal. Plan, organize, and manage time effectively. Skills Test: Type 30 WPM, with 5 or less errors.
