Position Title:  Information Technology Mgr.                     

Exempt, Full-Time

$59,464 - Annually/DOQ

SUMMARY: Responsible for overall planning, managing, and controlling all Information Technology (IT) functions for the City of Destin. This includes managing IT operations to meet customer requirements as well as the support and maintenance of existing infrastructure, applications, and development of new technical solutions. Work is performed under the direction of the Deputy City Manager.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Direct supervision of the GIS Manager and Systems Network Specialist.  This position requires the ability orchestrate the actions of all City Departments by communicating, coordinating and implementing the goals and objectives of the City Council as directed by the City Manager.

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and Experience: Graduation from an accredited four year college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field. Five (5) years of experience in Information Technology management, as a senior systems analyst or project leader with experience in the design, development, installation, and implementation of a major system, With 2 years of supervisory experience preferred.

Considerable knowledge of systems, hardware, networks, budgeting, GIS, public information and general practices of local government administration Preferred.   

Licenses or Certifications: Certified Public Technology Manager (CPTM) preferred.MS and or A+ certification preferred.

Special Requirements:

• Possession of a valid State of Florida Driver’s License.

• Working knowledge of Tyler Technology’s MUNIS, Energov and Citizenserve software packages

  or other community development software packages preferred.

• Local government experience preferred

Must be physically able to operate a variety of essential job related machines and office equipment. Must be able to move or carry essential job related objects or materials.
