Description | This position involves supervising, assigning, reviewing and participating in the work of full and part-time staff responsible for daily customer service activities. The Licensing and Permit Supervisor directs staff that regularly assists external and internal customers with a variety of inquiries and requests including building and construction permits, business licensing, rental housing licensing and Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities: · Supervision of Customer Service personnel, including hiring new employees and mentoring new staff on solid service principles. Plans, prioritizes, supervises, and coordinates the work of staff responsible for the prompt and efficient handling of customers, both in person and over the phone, as well as the daily administrative needs to support the Community Development Department and visitors to City Hall. · Assists in the preparation of informational materials, brochures, manuals, and rules and regulations used by the Department. Assist department management and administration with coordination of policy implementation, customer inquiries and other communication needs between Licensing and Permit Technicians and all City departments and divisions. Seeks out, recommends and/or carries out the implementation of departmental policies, procedures, and service standards for process improvement in conjunction with management. · Maintains records and prepares reports, including daily cash reports. Prepares purchase orders, requisitions, daily and monthly cash reports, and check requests; codes bills and submits them for payment. Manages the collection of and accounting for all fees, charges, refunds and disbursements related to the licensing, permits and application fees and for making daily cash deposits. · Update job descriptions, review employment applications, conducts job interviews, review and evaluate employee performance in areas of responsibility. Formalize and ensure training of LPT and Support staff in key areas according to goals and demonstrated needs. · Assists in researching and executing special projects and study reports as needed. Conducts, compiles, analyzes and documents research regarding special topics using the library, internet and other resources. Compiles information to include graphs, charts and Minimum Qualifications: · Must possess valid driver’s license. · Must have an acceptable credit background.

Education, Training, Experience and Certification Requirements: · Bachelor’s Degree in business or related field and two years supervisory experience required.
