The City of Portland (22,400 population - 15 square miles in area) is seeking experienced, professional candidates for its Assistant Sports Director position to assist in leading its Sports Venues.  Under the direction of the Sports Venues Director, the Sports Venues Assistant Director will assist in developing, planning, organizing, and overseeing the venues’ usage to deliver unparalleled quality of life opportunities for Portland’s residents and superior experiences for visitors alike.  

The Assistant Director will be responsible for creating and coordinating adult sports leagues; coordinate weekday, weeknight, and weekend tournaments; coordinate with local sports leagues; manage complex rentals; assist in managing departmental staffing; assist in complex maintenance; and other duties as assigned.  The Assistant Director will serve as the Sports Venues Director in his or her absence.

The salary range for this position is $45,000 to $50,000 DOQ.  The position receives a $5,760 annual car allowance, paid life and health insurance, and longevity pay. Portland is a TMRS city at 6%, 2:1.

The minimum educational requirement is a Bachelor’s degree in Sports/Athletics Management, Business, Marketing, Construction Management, Public Administration, or a related field; a minimum of two years of experience in a sports management environment is preferred.
