City Administrator, Wildwood, MO (35,524) is set in a magnificent natural environment that features heavily wooded, hilly terrain with valleys, meadows and streams. Located in St. Louis County 20 minutes from downtown St. Louis, Wildwood is a community dedicated to its Master Plan, providing for the preservation of its rural areas while actively managing residential and commercial growth. Seventy percent of the City’s 68 square miles is open space or agricultural land.

Incorporated in 1995, the City’s tradition is to contract out the majority of its municipal services, including public safety. The City has 22 full-time employees, and a total all-funds budget of $20 million. The City is financially strong, and levies no local property tax.

The City Administrator is appointed by a 16-member City Council, with confirmation by the Mayor. Citizen engagement and feedback is highly valued by the City Council, with a variety of advisory groups, boards and commissions providing input.

The City seeks a business-minded and collaborative professional with strong financial management, economic development, human resources and contract management skills. Ideal candidates will possess:

• A Bachelor’s degree in public policy, public administration, planning, or a related field. A Master’s degree is strongly desired;
• Seven – 10 years of increasingly responsible experience in local government management;
• Willingness to embrace the city’s adherence to its Master Plan and its dedication to contractual service delivery;
• Excellent interpersonal skills, and an approachable, welcoming style with the community and staff;
• Strong writing and oral presentation skills;
• A collaborative, team-oriented management style; and
• High energy, enthusiasm and passion for public service.  

Starting salary range: $150,000 - $165,000 +/- DOQ, plus an excellent benefit package. Residency within six months of appointment is required.
