The employee's TMRS contribution is 7% of their gross salary and is deposited on a pre-tax basis into their individual account. The City matches the employee's deposits at a rate of 2:1 or 14%.
The Bedford Fire Department not only provides progressive fire suppression and emergency medical services. The Department also operates many other specialized programs such as swift water rescue, hazardous materials response, technical rescue, honor guard and pipes and drums units.  The Bedford Fire Department is a member of the 14 city, North East Fire Department Association (NEDFA) which provides all specialty response services to member communities and to the greater Tarrant County area.
 

Bedford is centrally located between Dallas and Fort Worth off highways 183 and 121. Bedford is part of the greater HEB (mid-cities) area and is one of the busiest fire departments in North Texas.

*Fire Experience Pay Program

*Paramedic Differential: $1,200/year

*Incentive Pay Maximum: $2,400/year

*TMRS Retirement 7:14 Vested in 7 years

*Schedule: Shift schedule 48 hours on-duty / 96 hours duty-off

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Texas Commission on Fire Protection (TCFP) Firefighter Certificate and Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) Emergency Medical Technician Certification; OR 

Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) Paramedic Certification; OR

Currently attending Paramedic school with a completion date on or before May 31, 2023.
