Parking Enforcement Official

Full Time $11.50-$12.94 Hourly

Job Summary

Walk designated two hour parking route and issue citations; provide quality customer service in person and by phone; assist clerks in Records with the filing of police department records between each parking enforcement route and during inclement weather. Follow all safety policies and other miscellaneous duties.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Walk designated route, approximately 12 miles per day, in summer heat and winter cold, mark tires, issue parking citations for vehicles violating the two hour Downtown Parking Ordinance. Record and maintain record of time, date and location of each day, complete a daily, monthly and yearly stat sheet.

• Assist office personnel with clerical duties between parking enforcement routes, during inclement weather, or as assigned by a supervisor, including but limited to filing, assisting with phones, sorting mail, stamping signatures, making copies and entering reports into the police computer system.

• Notify other City departments or businesses of problems or potential problems noticed during enforcement rounds.

• Possess the ability to install and remove various wheel locking devices to immobilize parking violators (kneeling and bending involved – weight approximately 10-40 pounds).

• If provided, must be able to safely operate and maintain a parking enforcement vehicle.

• Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

• Provide fingerprinting services to the general public for job obligations and gun licenses.
