The Heritage Programs Oral History Intern performs a variety of operational duties as developed and assigned by the Historic Records Coordinator, to include work with Heritage Programs oral history projects, transcription, and collections management in the digital archive, Project HOLD. The Historic Records Coordinator will offer consistent mentorship and training throughout the internship.
 
The goal of the internship is to provide experiential experience in the intellectual, organizational, and practical work of oral history.

 

 Principal Duties:
  1. Assist in the implementation of oral history programs, processing interviews, and collections management.
  2. Transcribe oral history interviews.
  3. Complete special projects and perform other related duties as assigned.

 

 Qualifications:
REQUIRED:         
Current enrollment as an undergraduate or graduate student in the field of History, English, Library Sciences, Communications, Government or a related field. Knowledge of research techniques, methods, and procedures. Ability to operate a variety of office equipment to include a personal computer, a scanner, and a variety of computer software. Excellent interpersonal skills. Possession of a valid Texas Driver's License.

PREFERRED:      
Graduate student in the field of History, English, Library Sciences, Communications, Government or a related field. Experience in working with historic preservation and/or oral history programs.
