SUMMARY OF POSITION As a key member of the Fire Department Management team, the Assistant Fire Chief will report to the Fire Chief and assume a strategic role in the overall leadership of the department. The Assistant Fire Chief is responsible for providing support to the Fire Chief in leading, planning, implementing, and managing assigned activities of the Fire Department. Position is responsible for providing supervision to the assigned divisions of the Fire Department: shift captains, both operational and managerial in nature, and Fire and EMS operations and training. Any work related experience resulting in acceptable proficiency levels in the above Minimum Qualifications is an acceptable substitute for the above specified education and experience requirements. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
PHYSICAL DEMANDS Tasks involve regular and, at times, sustained performance of moderately physically demanding work, typically involving some combination of climbing and balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling, and that may involve the lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials (20-50 pounds). Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or work station. Some tasks require visual and sound perception and discrimination and oral communications ability. WORK ENVIRONMENT Tasks may risk exposure to extreme heat/cold or extreme weather conditions, strong odors and/or smoke, strong and/or toxic chemicals, and dust or pollen.
