Description

JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for performing plans reviews and inspection of construction projects for compliance with adopted building codes including: electrical, plumbing, fire and mechanical codes; as well as, city ordinances and state laws.  The main goal of this position is to protect the health and safety of the community with emphasis on electrical systems. Works under the direction of the Chief Building Official. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (Salary is dependent upon qualifications)

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Texas Master Electrician License issued by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR)
  • Five years directly related experience in building inspection or seven years of experience in electrical construction or building trades including reading construction plans.
  • Valid Texas Driver's License with an acceptable driving record is required.

 
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • International Code Council (ICC) certification as Residential and Commercial Electrical Inspector (must hold both licenses or be able to obtain the certificate within one (1) year of employment as a condition of continued employment). 
  • Previous experience in reviewing building plans is highly preferred.
  • Texas State Plumbing Inspector License is highly preferred.
  • Two years of college or technical training in construction, blue print reading, architecture or a related field is preferred.

SALARY;  $23.73 - $29.67 Hourly
