Grade:  218

Salary:  $73,758 - $120,861 Annually (Dependent on Qualifications)

ATTENDANCE REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION ARE AS FOLLOWS: Non rotating 40 hour work week, Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm. Must be available to work additional hours as needed.

Responsibilities 

The Engineer IV will, without limitation, oversee all construction projects for the City to include Capital Improvement Projects and commercial/subdivision projects.

  • Have the authority to change the scope of projects to include changing materials, changing quantities of materials, issuing change orders to contractors and making recommendations up to an established amount.
  • Interpret all plans and specifications for all projects.
  • Runs all “pre-construction” meetings and provides project requirements to contractors.
  • Review projects for completeness and after being satisfied “close out” documents to include requesting issuance for final payment.
  • Attend public meetings to provide updates or status on various City projects and to explain current and projected projects.
  • Supports all other City departments in both a technical and professional aspect.
  • Provides background information on projects to the Public Information Officer and/or Executive Director of Public Works.
  • Attend public meetings to provide updates or status on various City projects and to explain current and projected projects.
  • Periodic visits to construction sites to monitor progress, assist in any dispute resolutions and solve construction problems.
  • Oversee all quality Control Testing whether performed in-house or by a consultant
  • May be asked to perform other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications 

  • Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil/Structural/Environmental Engineering or related field
  • Minimum of six (6) years of progressively responsible experience
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of Texas, or a valid registration as a Professional Engineer in another state is required
  • Previous registration in Texas or another state with the ability to obtain State of Texas registration within six (6) months of employment is required
  • A valid driver's license is required. Successful out of state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire

Basis of Rating 

Application review and the City may also conduct additional skill assessment tests, in addition to the panel interview.

Any position that lists a minimum qualification for education level and/or license/certification will require the applicant to provide proof of documentation if selected for hire into the position with the City of Corpus Christi.
