Lifeguard-2024

Salary: $15.00/hr. - $16.50/hr.  (Depending on qualifications) 
 

To observe all patrons of Mesquite swimming pools and ensure their safety while using the pool; to administer CPR and First Aid as needed; and to perform cleaning or maintenance work on the pool and in the pool area.

SUPERVISION

General Supervision is provided by the Swimming Pool Supervisor or Head Lifeguard.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • All behaviors comply with the Code of Conduct and Rules of Behavior outlined in Chapter 8 of the General Government Policies and Procedures Manual.
  • Observe pool patrons and ensure that pool rules and safety practices are followed.
  • Provide CPR, AED or first aid as required.
  • Clean pool tiles, decks, drain covers, gutters, and bathrooms, vacuum the pool and perform other pool maintenance duties.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION

  • Formal or informal education or training which ensures the ability to read and write at a level necessary for successful job performance.

EXPERIENCE

  • None required.
  • Must be a minimum of 16 years of age at time of hire.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES

  • Possession of an appropriate Lifeguard Training Certificate from the American Red Cross or another agency of equivalent standing.
  • Possession of an appropriate valid CPR Certificate from the American Red Cross or another agency of equal standing.
  • Possession of an appropriate valid First Aid Certification from the American Red Cross or another agency of equal standing.
  • Possession of an appropriate valid Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) Certification from the American Red Cross or another agency of equal standing.

WORK SCHEDULE

  • Must be available to work a flexible schedule 20-30 hours per week Sunday-Saturday between the hours of 11:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m.

Head Lifeguard-2024

Salary: $16.50/hr. - $18.00/hr.  (Depending on qualifications) 

To supervise, train, and assign staff responsible for providing swimming pool recreation programs within the Swimming Pool Division. To manage the swimming pool facility in the absence of the Swimming Pool Supervisor. To observe all patrons of Mesquite swimming pools and ensure their safety while using the pool; to administer CPR, AED, and First Aid as needed; and to perform cleaning or maintenance work on the pool and in the pool area.

SUPERVISION

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • General Supervision is provided by the Swimming Pool Supervisor.
  • All behaviors comply with the Code of Conduct and Rules of Behavior outlined in Chapter 8 of the General Government Policies and Procedures Manual.
  • Assist the Swimming Pool Supervisor plan, prioritize, assign, supervise and review the work of staff responsible for providing pool safety and recreation services within the Swimming Pool Division
  • Assist the Swimming Pool Coordinator and Swimming Pool Supervisor in the selection of lifeguard staff; provide or coordinate staff training; work with employees to correct deficiencies.
  • Recommend and assist in the implementation of goals and objectives; assist the Swimming Pool Supervisor establish schedules and methods for providing swimming pool services; implement policies and procedures.
  • Observe pool patrons and ensure that pool rules and safety practices are followed.
  • Provide CPR, AED, or first aid as required.
  • Prepare various reports on operations and activities; maintain records of income and attendance totals.
  • Clean pool tiles, decks, drain covers, gutters, and bathrooms, vacuum the pool and perform other pool maintenance duties.
  • Perform chemical tests on pool water.
  • Provide patrons with information regarding the operation and rules of the facility; respond to patron inquiries and concerns; and provide excellent Customer Service.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION

  • Formal or informal education or training which ensures the ability to read and write at a level necessary for successful job performance.

EXPERIENCE

  • One (1) season experience as a Lifeguard.
  • Must be a minimum of 16 years of age at time of application.

 LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES

Pool Cashier-2024

Salary: $10.25/hr. - $11.75/hr.  (Depending on qualifications) 

To meet and greet patrons, accept admission fees, handle money and make change; create daily cash reports, season swim passes and answer the phone. Perform cleaning or maintenance work on the pool and in the pool area.  
SUPERVISION

  • General Supervision is provided by the Swimming Pool Supervisor or Head Lifeguard.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. All behaviors comply with the Code of Conduct and Rules of Behavior outlined in Chapter 8 of the General Government Policies and Procedures Manual. Adheres to assigned work schedule as outlined in city and department attendance policies and procedures.
  2. Greet pool patrons with excellent customer service. Provide patrons with information regarding the operation and rules of the City of Mesquite Aquatics facilities.
  3. Collect pool admission fees, handle money and make changes as needed while operating a cash register. Perform basic mathematical calculations.
  4. Balance cash register at the end of shift and administer required reports.
  5. Observe pool patrons and ensure that pool rules and safety practices are followed. 
  6. Keep office clean and organized. Clean and maintain the pool area.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE 

  • Formal or informal education or training which ensures the ability to read and write at a level necessary for successful job performance.
  • No experience is necessary; however, six (6) months experience in cash management, operating a cash register or similar work is preferred.
  • Must be a minimum of 16 years of age at time of hire.

  • None

  • Must be available to work a flexible schedule 20-30 hours per week Sunday-Saturday between the hours of 11:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m.
