DESCRIPTION:
Primarily responsible for providing Senior level management support with the Economic Development for the City of Augusta by redevelopment planning, economic development planning, marketing, researching, creating and implementing projects and programs that support the commercial, and housing development. This position will also be responsible for business retention, development of public facilities and infrastructure, small business development initiatives and other economic development, redevelopment or capital improvement programs or projects. This position works with contractors, inspectors, architects, developers, vendors, attorneys, bankers and other city agencies.
 
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provides economic development and support for the city's retail, commercial and neighborhood base.
  • Oversees multiple projects involving economic development, CDBG Facades, architectural services, and services related to commercial and Renewal Projects by planning, marketing, researching, coordinating and implementing.
  • Responsible for preparing weekly reports for the weekly Project Management Meeting, and assisting with the preparation of the monthly Project Performance Reports.
  • Responsible for processing and reviewing all economic development incentive applications.
  • Evaluates economic, statistical and demographic data to analyze best means to attract, retain or expand businesses in Augusta, Georgia.
  • Maintains and develops contacts with land owners, developers, site consultants, realtors, government officials and all other economic development organizations and agencies.
  • Coordinates commercial development projects through various regulatory processes, serving as the liaison between the development customers and City departments.
  • Promotes job development, prepares prospect proposals, and prepares grant applications for submittals.
  • Plans and prepares advertising and publicity materials.
 
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Bachelor's degree in economic development, urban planning, public administration, marketing, finance or a related occupational field.
  
Experience: Three (3) years' experience in architectural services, construction, government, commercial and residential.
 
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Federally and State housing regulatory requirements
  • Construction Management and strong organizational skills
  • Proven ability to consistently meet or exceed deadlines
  • Ability to think pro-actively and problem solving skills
  • Ability to read and revise blue prints
  • Proficiency in computer software programs
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills including business protocol and business etiquette
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and accomplish tasks assigned including deliverables from subordinates

Licensing: Valid state driver's license.
*This position may require the use of a county vehicle*
